A development mule of the Mahindra Marazzo automatic variant has been spotted on test.
There is always something being brewed at Mahindra. While the carmaker is busy working on the next generation XUV500 and the Scorpio Sting, it has also found time to work on its MPV the Marazzo.
Having launched the BS6 version of the vehicle back in August, now, the carmaker is testing an automatic variant of the MPV.
While the test car looks similar to the regular Marazzo, what gives its secret away is the “AutoShift” badge that is present on the lower left corner of the tailgate.
But, there is more. Mahindra has been reportedly working on a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol motor that will put out a maximum of 161 BHP and a peak toque of 280 Nm.
That motor will come mated with a 6-speed manual with the option of a 6-speed automatic, sourced from Aisin, also to be offered.
It is believed that the Mahindra Marazzo automatic test car has the 1.5-litre turbo petrol powering it. However, until an official word on the matter arrives, this would just be a speculation.
Currently, Mahindra sells the Marazzo with a sole 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 121 BHP and 300 Nm and comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The asking price for the three diesel variants on sale at present range between Rs. 11.25 lakhs and Rs. 13.51 lakhs (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
