Jaguar has unveiled the 2021 E-Pace with enhanced exterior, revised interior and with new Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Mild-Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) powertrains.
For the 2021 model year, the car comes with restyled exterior which includes an aerodynamically optimised bumper, revised lower apertures, LED headlights with DRLs and a new grille design.
At the rear, there are new LED tail lights, the lower bumper features a new mesh insert which sits between the integrated tail pipes (standard with 4-cylinder petrol engines), while all the other engine derivatives gain new slim horizontal blade finishers.
Customers can also buy the car in R-Dynamic specification which features a series of distinct styling elements and further, all models are available with the additional Black Exterior Pack as well.
On the inside, the 2021 Jaguar E-Pace gets a new steering wheel, a 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen for the Pivi Pro infotainment system, new drive selector, metallic speaker accents and metallic vent finishes.
The new petrol engine line-up comprises a 160 PS 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo MHEV unit (FWD), 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo MHEV unit in 200 PS, 249 PS and 300 PS guises (all AWD) and a 309 PS 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo PHEV unit (AWD). The smaller petrol uses an 8-speed auto while the larger petrol uses a 9-speed auto.
The P300e PHEV unit is aided by a 109 PS (80 kW) Electric Rear Axle Drive (ERAD) motor that provides the car up to 55 km electric range.
On the other hand, the MHEV system uses a Belt integrated Starter Generator (BiSG) to harvest energy usually lost, which is then stored in a 48 V lithium-ion battery located at the back.
The diesel lineup has a 163 PS 2.0-litre turbo unit with a 6-speed manual (FWD) and two MHEVs using the same engine in two tunes – 163 PS and 204 PS. Both come in AWD and are mated to a 9-speed auto gearbox.
There is a range-topping 300 Sport variant that uses the 2.0-litre petrol engine that makes 300 PS and 400 Nm and enables the compact luxury SUV to do the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 6.6 seconds.
Other features offered with the 2021 Jaguar E-Pace include the new AWD system that now has driveline disconnect tech to improve efficiency, Jaguar Drive Control featuring Comfort, Eco, Rain-Ice-Snow (on FWD models) and Dynamic modes.
