BMW R 18 Touring Spied While On Test Runs Overseas
Just a few additional equipment like a windscreen and auxiliary lights seem enough for the bike to become an able tourer.
BMW is working on the touring version of its R 18 cruiser and it has been spied while undergoing testing overseas.
While the R 18 has already been launched both abroad and in India, the manufacturer is working to bring out one more version of the bike.
More focused about covering distances than the bike currently on sale, the BMW R 18 touring model gets a tall windscreen, repositioned indicators at the front and a pair of auxiliary lights upfront.
Another obvious change is the exhaust pipes, which look much neater than the fishtail mufflers and the wheel rims seem to have fewer spokes on the touring bike.
Apart from these changes, the fuel tank, rider’s seat and rear section, all look identical to the regular R 18. We expect the First Edition’s pinstripe paint job to be carried over as well.
This is not the first time that the BMW R 18 touring spied images have circulated online, since back in October last year, before the R 18 was launched, two test mules of the touring version were spotted.
Also, BMW is said to be working on a bagger version of the bike as well. So, expect the R 18 range to grow in the coming years, as the bikemaker looks to make the most out of the platform.
Although speculative at the moment, the launch event of the touring or even the bagger version might happen by Q1 next year.
