Mercedes-Benz EQC 4x4² Revealed, Electric SUV Turned Into Off-Roader

Mercedes-Benz EQC 4x4² Off-Roading — The add-ons do not look out of place on the EV

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the EQC 4×4², a one-off off-roader which has been developed by a small team.

For those who clap eyes on the car and ask “Why on earth would Mercedes develop such a model?”, the carmaker has a simple answer – to show that e-mobility is also conceivable off-road.

Based on the regular EQC 400 4MATIC, the 4×4² gets multi-link portal axles, a 293 mm ground clearance, 31.8 degrees of approach angle, 33 degrees of departure angle, 24.2 degrees breakover angle, and 400 mm fording depth.

EQC 4×4²’s capabilities include driving through sand (in desert regions and on beaches), on rocky terrain and through mountain streams.

Although the one-off model has portal axles, its suspension is attached to the standard body mounting points.

To look at, the electric SUV off-roader is a sight to behold, for it gets wheel arch flares, chunky 20-inch wheels and a Matt Metallic Gun-metal Grey car film for the body.

Another highlight of the Mercedes EQC 4×4² is the sound experience. While the regular EQC uses an external noise generator, the 4×4² has a more powerful version of it and uses the headlamps as external speakers that Mercedes calls “lampspeakers”.

In all, this is the third 4×4² model from Mercedes-Benz, following the G 500 4×4² and the E 400 All-Terrain 4×4².
