Royal Enfield Project V
The firm would have thought it best to concentrate on important models at hand

It seems development of the Royal Enfield Project V, its entry-level 250cc motorcycle, has come to a premature end.

The leader of the middleweight segment is struggling with supply chain issues and is also trying to increase production capacity so as to meet demand.

Having dropped its plans to launch the 250cc motorcycle, the firm is instead, focusing on improving its cost structure.

We had only recently reported that the firm has had to push back the Meteor’s launch post Diwali. Also, the replacement for the Classic is set to be launched only by April next year.

While the firm is facing such troubles, Honda managed to ride in the H’ness CB350, a bike aimed squarely at Royal Enfield’s 350cc models, but one that has more features and technology on board.

But, it is easy to understand why the bikemaker would axe a new, entry-level model. The firm has two products that are almost ready for launch and is also concentrating on higher capacity motorcycles as well.

It would like to consolidate its position with the upcoming products, deal with current issues and then, possibly, play with the idea of a new entry-level bike when there are no additional constraints.
