The talented guys in our team have worked their magic again as we bring to you a first render of the 2021 KTM RC 390.
The KTM RC 390 is one of the most successful sub-400cc bikes in the world. But, sadly, it hasn’t received any major facelifts or updates over the years.
The biggest change came during the switch to BS4 when KTM bid adieu to the underbelly exhaust and introduced a new side-mounted one. Other than this, there weren’t many changes other than mere graphics.
However, KTM is planning to change that for 2021. The upcoming KTM RC 390 looks very different from the current model. The bike will probably get new orange and blue graphics which look like KTM’s MotoGP bike- the RC 16.
Other changes include a less committed riding triangle, new headlamp, new tailpiece, updated DRLs and even a new braking setup upfront. We even suspect a new TFT instrument cluster coming from its naked counterpart, the Duke 390.
The render further shows that if KTM were to integrate the pillion grab rails, the rear end would get a little broader. It will complement the front end, though, which has also lost out on its minimalistic nature.
There are rumours that the sub-frame of the upcoming RC will be similar to the Duke 390s as well. This might come at the cost of pillion comfort, but there isn’t much on the current model as well.
Lastly, while we await the official presentation and launch, there are speculations that KTM might be working on a 490cc engine spec for the RC. This might be in order to meet the strict emission norms.
All in all, KTM seem to be listening to the consumers as the new RC seems more road-friendly and finally gets a major aesthetic update. We’re not really fond of it yet, but we hope the final product exceeds our expectations. Let us know what you think about the render and if you like the upcoming RC!
