Suzuki has announced a Limited Edition variant of the GSX-R1000R which commemorates Suzuki’s 100th Anniversary. The special blue and silver livery is the standout feature of this limited edition model.
While the special new livery pays homage to Suzuki’s rich 1960s grand prix racing heritage, it actually looks very similar to Suzuki’s current MotoGP bike- the GSX-RR. However, apart from the livery, not much is new.
Powering the Limited Edition Gixxer is an inline-4 999cc motor which makes 202 PS of power and 117 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, the bike gets Variable Valve Timing which comes from Suzuki’s MotoGP bike and spreads the power throughout the rev band.
The bike also gets a 6-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quickshifter. Other mechanical bits include Showa Balance Free suspension, braided front brake lines, Brembo mono-bloc callipers, and an adjustable swingarm pivot.
While the components are top notch, the electronics are no less. The electronic package includes a digital negative LCD display, lean angle sensitive ABS, 10-level traction control, launch control, LED lighting, and Suzuki’s Drive Mode Selector.
Since it’s an exclusive bike, the Limited Edition Suzuki GSX-R1000R will be available in very exclusive numbers. Currently, only 100 units are available for sale via Suzuki Great Britain and the price is 16,999 Euros each (Rs. 14.8 lakhs).
However, there are claims that the Limited Edition model will be available for sale globally by 2021. Additionally, officials have also confirmed that not only the GSX-R1000R, other GSX-R models will also receive the special edition paint job.
