2021 Mahindra Thar off-roading video has been released online and the SUV has displayed its go-anywhere ability quite evidently.
Built on a new third gen chassis, the 3-door SUV has several off-road goodies such as electric driveline disconnect on front axle, mechanical locking differential, brake lock differential, among others.
In the video, Mahindra has shown what the car is capable of, notably, the carmaker claims that the SUV can take off even with three wheels spinning and fighting for traction.
Demonstrations of advanced roll-over mitigation, lateral movement control are also shown, with the inevitable skid pad test also showcasing the off-road car’s braking capability.
Now for the more important bits that off-road enthusiasts would want to know about. The 2021 Mahindra Thar off-roading video reveals that the SUV has a 27 degree break over angle, an approach angle of 41.8 degrees, while the gradability is 31 degrees.
With 226 mm ground clearance, the 2021 Mahindra Thar can ford up to 650 mm deep water, while the independent double wishbone front suspension and the rear suspension with 235 mm travel further aid the off-road vehicle.
Also, the video shows the car’s gauges displayed on the 7-inch touchscreen, where one can see the power and torque used, a compass to know where they are headed, current speed and finally, a G-force meter, just in case.
The 2021 Mahindra Thar off-roading video further strengthens its case as a capable tool for those who enjoy going places that have not been trodden before, and for those who understand speed and power is not everything in certain cases.
Due to be launched on 2nd October, the new Thar will get two engines and gearbox options, along with a revised design inside and out, with tonnes of features on board to make it a better car while it is on the black stuff as well.
