Citroen Berlingo Spied Front
Typical MPV this, small wheels and quirky styling with a big cabin

Citroen Berlingo MPV has been spied while undergoing test runs in India. The car is among the popular people carriers in the European market and is known for its practicality.

Unfortunately, Citroen’s obsession to make the car as practical as possible seems to have blurred the vision of its design department, for it looks uninspiring.

The boxy MPV shape might not be to everyone’s tastes, but the car does get the French brand’s trademark 2-tier headlights with fog lights below it and the split grille design.

It is business as usual at the side, with some door protection and the large tail section gets some equally large tail lamps. Notably, the car has a vast glass area, which would further amplify the space it offers.

Latest iteration of the Berlingo sits on a new platform – a hybrid of PSA’s EMP2 architecture with previous gen car’s underpinnings and comes in two versions such as the 5-seater M (4.4 m long) and the 7-seater XL (4.75 m). The Citroen Berlingo spied car was the XL variant.

Now, we do not think the French carmaker is going to launch the MPV here. So why is it testing here you ask? Well, the Berlingo, in Europe, comes with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol (110 HP) and a 1.5-litre DV5 diesel (in 102 HP and 130 HP) engine options.

It is likely that the turbo petrol model is being tested here, since it is the same engine that is expected to power models from the brand’s C-Cubed Program, which will be launched after the C5 Aircross.

A compact SUV and a premium hatchback are expected to be introduced here after the SUV, and they are likely to come with the turbo petrol powerplant.
