2020 Mahindra Thar has been spied once again form before its official unveil that is scheduled to take place on 15th August. Seen in a shade of blue (some might call it grey) the cars was spotted testing in Bengaluru.
Completely disguised at the front, the test car reveals the bonnet clamps and creases that run across the hood. While the windscreen is upright as expected, we can also see the “Thar” script written on the door mirror housing.
This particular car is a hard top version, with nice looking alloys that sit under bog arches, so there will be plenty of wheel travel available.
A lockable fuel filler cap, just like vehicles of old, can be seen, while there are floor boards to help ingress and egress. The glass house, however, is not too generous and that might not be to everybody’s tastes.
Go to the rear and we can see that the taillights too have the “Thar” inscription in them, which is nice. Moreover, the spare wheel and the rugged-looking bumper complete the exterior design.
Inside, the cabin has transformed as expected. The dash might look simple, but there are things like a multi-function steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system, air vents with carbon fibre-like surrounds below which sit the AC controls.
There is a big stowage area below the controls, next to which sit the gear shifter and high/low range selector, electric window switches and cup holders. It might not be the most ergonomically sorted interior, but is a big step up nonetheless. Oh, you also get Thar badging on the door cards.
At the back, we get forward facing seats, with plenty of legroom. The 2020 Mahindra Thar spied car seems to be a strict 4-seater, because space at the back seems tight. The seats do look foldable though.
Further details about the car will be revealed when the Mahindra Thar is unveiled officially next week. So, watch this space.
