Ferrari has launched its F8 Tributo in India with a whopping price tag of Rs. 4.08 crores (ex-showroom). First showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the F8 Tributo is an evolution of the 488 and the Pista in some respects.
Any Ferrari, in my opinion, should be a thing of beauty, a sight to behold and the F8 Tributo has got such traits. But, one cannot help but think immediately of the 458 Italia while looking at it, since it can be traced back to that beauty of a supercar.
I digress, the F8 Tributo’s looks sit somewhere between the 488 and the Pista. There are deep creases, S-duct, slimmer and sharper headlights incorporated with air channels, twin tail lights (like that of the 308 GTB), two exhaust pipes and a large diffuser.
They all make the car look purposeful and yet, elegant. It has been made to look like that since it pays tribute to the older Ferrari V8 Berlinetta models.
Now to the more important bits. The car gets the Pista’s 3.9-litre engine (with customary changes and tweaks) that is twin-turbocharged to produce 720 HP and 770 Nm.
Mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, it can do the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 2.9 seconds, 0-200 km/hr in 7.8 seconds and flat out, hit 340 km/hr.
The Ferrari F8 Tributo price also warrants more, so, the car is 40 kg lighter, has 15 percent more downforce than the 488 and if you want more bragging rights, it is the fastest series production mid-engined Ferrari to date.
Not that you will be wanting it, still you get a 8.5-inch touchscreen display, optional 7-inch passenger display, new steering wheel and a new-gen Human Machine Interface (HMI) and a whole host of customisation options.
