Jeep Compass Recall Issued To Rectify Wiper Assembly Issue
In all, 547 units of the SUV have been affected and customers are currently being contacted.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has issued a recall for 547 units of the Jeep Compass SUV to rectify an issue with the wiper assembly. All of the affected Jeep Compass units were manufactured this year, the company states.
The firm states that it identified an “opportunity to improve the fitment of a brace nut which is used in the wiper assembly” of MY20 Jeep Compass SUVs. This issue, according to FCA, was found during a regular vehicle quality audit process.
Done as a precautionary exercise, the recall will see the brace nut in question tightened to the specific torque that would improve its grip on the wiper pivot and thus rule out any possibility of the wiper assembly malfunctioning. The process would be completed within 15 minutes, free of cost.
FCA India in its statement says that “the torque-induced brace nut should firmly clamp the wiper arm on to the wiper pivot assembly, enabling them to swivel as one unit when activated”.
It further adds that “a malfunction of the brace nut can result in the wipers not swivelling when activated by the wiper combi-switch behind the steering wheel”.
Customers are being contacted regarding the Jeep Compass recall, while authorised workshops will assess the vehicles and take necessary action.
There have been a slew of recalls like the Jeep Compass recall of late. Maruti too issued a recall to fix a possible fuel pump issue in over 1.3 lakh vehicles that were affected. The models recalled were the Wagon R and the Baleno.
