Lamborghini SCV12 track car has been teased ahead of its launch which is expected to happen very soon. The Italian supercar manufacturer has been teasing the SCV12 from October 2019 and it looks like the wait is finally going to get over.
Developed exclusively by Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse racing division, the SCV12 will be a track machine that focuses only on lap times.
It draws inspiration from racing prototypes, while getting racing suspension and naturally lots of aero bits like the large front splitter, equally large rear diffuser and the intricately designed wing.
Being a track car, it has small diamond-shaped headlights and slim tail lights. But the top air scoop, racing fuel filler cap, carbon fibre chassis, all befit a car suited to run within the confines of a race track.
One way to best sum up the Lamborghini SCV12 is that it is like an Aventador SVJ on which race engineers were allowed to go wild, since without the need to adhere to road regulations the car can be raw and focus on nothing but lap times.
The 6.5-litre V12 in the Lamborghini SCV12 makes 830 HP and interestingly, it will propel only the rear wheels through a 6-speed sequential transmission plucked from the Huracan Super Trofeo Evo race car.
Also, Lamborghini claims that the SCV12 produces more downforce than a GT3-class race car, further adding fuel to the hype that already surrounds the car.
Sadly, this would likely be the last time that a V12 from Lamborghini would power a car as is, since future V12s are expected to be assisted by electronics, but that too might not be able to save the engine-type for long.
