As we envy Americans for the broad variety of superbike offerings available in the US, Aprilia has added two more to the list. They are the 2020 Aprilia RSV4 and Tuono RR Misano Edition.
The limited-edition variants get a special tri-colour “Misano” livery which hosts the same colours as the Italian flag. This special livery is inspired by 1987 GP Aprilia race bike ridden by Loris Reggiani whereas the name “Misano Edition” comes from Aprilia’s first 250cc championship win at the Misano Circuit.
To make the motorcycles more exclusive, the production number will be 100 for each of these and they will come with dedicated serial numbers for each unit. This number is present on the triple clamp for the Aprilia RSV4 and on the fuel tank cover for the Tuono.
The finishing touch in the livery is a special “A” logo on the fuel tank and fairing which Aprilia exclusively use on their racing bikes. Other than the cosmetic changes, the limited edition bikes also get a carbon fibre front fender and a lightweight lithium-ion battery.
Although the special livery looks fantastic, the performance figures remain unchanged. The Aprilia RSV4 RR Misano edition hosts a 999.6cc V4 motor which produces 201 PS and 115 Nm of torque while the Tuono RR Misano edition hosts the 1077cc V4 motor that delivers 175 PS and 121 Nm of torque.
The 2020 Aprilia RSV4 and Tuono Misano editions cost $17,999 (roughly Rs. 14 lakh) and $15,999 (roughly Rs. 12 lakhs), respectively. While we love how the new Misano edition bikes look, more performance would’ve been a pleasurable touch.
Aprilia has said that these special edition motorcycles will retail only in the US markets. This means you will probably have to fly to the US to get one for yourself. The standard versions of the Aprilia RSV4 RR and Tuono V4 RR are both available in India though and roughly cost Rs. 19 lakhs and Rs. 17 lakhs (ex-showroom) respectively.
