News highlights of the day include Suzuki, Volkswagen, Toyota and F1.
Suzuki – The Japanese bike maker has introduced new ‘Suzuki at your doorstep’ program. Under this, the company will offer test rides, buying and after sales service facilities from your doorstep. To meet customer demand during lockdown, Suzuki has launched online and telephonic booking.
Volkswagen – Volkswagen introduced the T-Roc in India via CBU. The first batch imported in India is sold out. They have allotted all 1000 units initially imported to India. It is priced at Rs. 19.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) and comes with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol TSI engine.
Toyota – The Japanese carmaker has increased the pricing of Fortuner in India. All variants now get a Rs. 48,000/- increase in pricing. It now comes with a starting price of Rs. 28.66 lakhs (ex-showroom).
F1 – Many races have been cancelled due to the ongoing worldwide pandemic crisis. However, revised F1 calendar confirms 8 races for now. It will kick-off from 3rd July in Austria. It will also be held in Hungary, UK, Spain, Belgium and Italy. Total 8 rounds will be held and no spectators are allowed.
Motor Trivia – Did you know, many VW cars are named after different types of wind. Passat in German means trade wind, Polo means polar wind while Jetta means jet stream.
Comment of the day – Mahesh Thampi – “All the current entry level products are just too expensive for what they offer. Manufacturers should bring back old basic bikes like CT100B, Boxer, HF Dawn and Crux in the entry level segment.”
