Skoda has updated the Rapid with new features and new engine.
Showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, the new BS6 Skoda Rapid is here. The updated Rapid is priced from Rs. 7.49 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the base Rider variant. It is available in 5 variants.
In terms of styling, the 2020 Skoda Rapid looks exactly the same. There are negligible changes like new alloy wheel design and boot lip spoiler. However, there are more features on offer.
The Rapid’s interior is the same as well continuing with the dual tone treatment. There is a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Smartlink system is also offered.
Some of the key features include rear parking camera, 4 airbags, auto headlights, auto wipers, LED DRLs, cruise control, climate control, etc.
Powered by a 1.0-litre TSI, turbo petrol engine producing 110 PS and 175 Nm of torque. This engine is currently offered in 6-speed manual transmission only. Automatic gearbox will be introduced in a few months.
Skoda claims 18.97 km/l of fuel efficiency with the Rapid. The sedan no longer comes with 1.5-litre diesel. Even the 1.6-litre petrol is discontinued.
The Skoda Rapid competes with Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Ciaz. It has a stiff competition to deal with. Skoda is offering multiple financial schemes to attract more buyers.
