Over 7 lakh units of Volvo cars have been recalled globally.
Volvo is recalling more than 7 lakh cars globally for a suspected issue with the Autonomous Emergency Braking system. In India, the Swedish carmaker has recalled 1891 units.
All cars manufactured in MY 2019-2020 have been affected in this recall. It includes 2020 V90 Cross Country, S90, XC40, XC60 and XC90 models in India.
The Autonomous Emergency Braking system without the need of driving input automatically applies brakes sensing objects and people through its sensors. However, it is suspected that in high temperature scenarios it will detect obstacles but won’t apply brakes automatically.
This malfunction in the cars can be fixed with a software update. Volvo has individually contacted owners of the affected cars. Due to the ongoing lockdown in the country and many other countries, service centres are not operational and fixing this issue might take some time.
