News highlights of the day include Hyundai, Suzuki, Hero and BIC.
Hyundai i20 Active – Seems like the i20 Active has been discontinued in India for good. Hyundai has removed the car from their official website. We believe due to low demand of the model, the carmaker didn’t consider to update the i20 Active with BS6 engine and hence it has been discontinued ahead of the April deadline.
Suzuki Burgman Street – The scooter has been updated with a BS6 engine. It is priced from Rs. 77,900/- (ex-showroom). New Metallic Matte Bordeaux Red colour option added. Gets integrated kill switch and easy start system where you don’t need to keep the button pressed for the engine to start, it is a one click start button. Updated 124cc fuel injected BS6 engine produces 8.7 HP at 7000 RPM with 10 Nm at 5500 RPM.
Hero Destini 125 – The Indian bike maker has updated the Destini with a BS6 engine. It is priced from Rs. 64,310/- (ex-showroom). There is an increase of Rs. 7000/- in price compared to the BS4 model. Power and torque figures have improved in the BS6 engine delivering 9 HP at 7000 RPM and 10.4 Nm at 5500 RPM. They claim it is 11 percent more efficient.
Buddh International Circuit – India’s only F1 spec track has been sealed by authorities due to non-payment of dues. Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has locked the Buddh International Circuit and is preparing a global tender for an auction in order to recover dues by Jaypee Infratech Limited.
