Mercedes debuts the A-Class sedan in India with the AMG A35.
Mercedes-Benz debuted the A-Class Limousine in the Indian market by showcasing the AMG spec version of the car. The A-Class sedan effectively replaces the CLA in the Indian market. The all-new CLA, which sells globally won’t be coming to India. Instead, Mercedes-Benz has decided to launch the more spacious A-Class sedan or limonene as Mercedes likes to call it.
The Mercedes AMG A35 gets the 2.0-litre turbo petrol good for 302 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox helping to propel the car from 0 to 100 in 4.8 seconds. The turbocharged petrol engine also happens to be one of the most powerful 4-cylinder engines in the world.
The A-Class sedan gets a sharp and athletic styling. The front features an aggressive nose and edgy headlamps. The open-mouthed grille adds more appeal. The compact design works well throughout. The interiors are pretty premium and Mercedes is promising the latest in tech, including the MBUX infotainment system.
On the standard A-Class sedan, 2.0-litre petrol and diesel options will be expected. The sedan is expected to rival the upcoming BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe. Mercedes has started accepting the bookings with deliveries commencing in June 2020.
