MG Motor is planning to showcase a sedan in India at the 2020 Auto Expo. Based on the RC-6 from Shanghai Automotive (SAIC)-owned Baojun, the car is actually a cross between a coupe, off-roader and a sedan.
The upcoming MG sedan follows the 3-box layout of a sedan, a flowing coupe-like roof and a 180 mm ground clearance. It has a 2800 mm wheelbase which is just 41 mm short of the Skoda Superb. The sedan also gets a large wraparound grille complemented by a long nose and a flat bonnet. Similar to its sibling, the Hector, the sedan gets attractive fighter-jet-like faux intakes surrounding the fog lights, a clamshell bonnet, and, around the rear, the styling is quite neat.
The car is likely to get a Mercedes S-Class-like twin-screen display, in place of the instrument panel, with both located in the same plane. A high-quality cabin with plenty of connected car tech is likely to be part of the package too.
Engine duties might be carried on by the 1.5-litre turbo petrol unit that churns 143 PS of power in the Hector. As for diesel, SAIC’s own 2.0-litre diesel could be introduced or just shared with the sister SUV.
