Nissan will be launching a new sub-4-metre compact SUV in India in 2020.
Nissan India today announced that they will be launching an all-new compact SUV here. The compact SUV will be slotted below the Kicks in the product portfolio and it will rival the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue and the upcoming Kia QYi.
Renault is also working on a new compact SUV codenamed HBC and it is likely that the HBC and Nissan’s compact SUV will have similar mechanicals and will be based on the same platform. The CMF-A platform also underpins Renault’s sub-4-metre 7-seater Triber.
With BS6 norms in place, Nissan’s new compact SUV won’t get a diesel engine. Instead it is expected to get the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that will find its way in the HBC as well as the Triber. Currently, the Triber comes with a 1.0-litre NA petrol engine.
Nissan has revealed a teaser of the new vehicle. It seems to get a crossover-ish stance just like the Kicks and the styling of the headlamps and tail lights does bear some resemblance to its elder sibling. The vehicle will get a floating roof design and dual-tone colour schemes. Expect more details about this upcoming compact SUV in the coming few weeks.
