The Renault Triber sold just 1466 fewer units than the Maruti Ertiga in November 2019.
Owing to the performance of the new models like the Maruti Ertiga, Maruti XL6 and the Renault Triber, the segment grew 15% and is a testimony to the potential it has to offer. Even Kia shall be entering the segment with the Carnival MPV which shall be pitted directly against the Toyota Innova Crysta (Virtually has no competition right now). The segment has already heated up and it will be interesting to see how things stack up in the future.
In the first position, we have the Maruti Eeco with a YoY (Year on year) growth of 36%. The Maruti Ertiga is faring extremely well and sold 7537 units in November 2019. The MPV recorded 18% YoY last month. Along with its snazzier sibling the Maruti XL6, the platform is doing wonders for its company in tough times.
Coming to the Reanult Triber, this economic MPV has been gaining volumes steadily. In August 2019 it sold 2490 units, in September 2019 the figures doubled to 4710 units, in October 2019 it recorded 5240 units sales and in November 2019 the numbers are inching closer to the segment leader Maruti Ertiga at 6071 units. The Triber has even budged the Mahindra Bolero aside and is up one position from the last month. The MPV has been the silver lining for Renault this year and contributed to 56% of the company’s India volumes in November 2019. It is a clear depiction of how important the model has been for the OEM.
Meanwhile, Mahindra Marazzo’s sales are dipping every month. Post the launch of the new Ertiga; the Marazzo is finding it difficult to match the initial volumes it had gathered during the launch phase.
While the Renault Triber is doing wonders, its sister MPV the Lodgy has recoded the steepest decline amounting to -83% in the same time frame. While it settles at the second last position, the Tata Sumo takes the last spot on the list with just 48 units out of the showrooms in November 2019.
