First on the list is the Kia Seltos which is now undoubtedly the Creta-killer.
As opposed to the automobile industry that’s struggling to just break even, the mid-size SUV segment of India has leaped and recorded almost double growth in just a month. In October 2019, this particular segment reported a cumulative YoY of 40%. In November 2019, it has shot up to 78%!
First on the list is the Kia Seltos which is now undoubtedly the Creta-killer. The Seltos has created new records by raking in 14,005 units in November 2019 and sold over twice than the erstwhile leader Creta that managed to sell 6684 units in the same time frame. The Hyundai Creta degrew -31% and is facing stiff competition from the newcomers.
At the 3rd spot we have the Mahindra Scorpio which recorded a YoY growth of 33% followed closely by the MG Hector. The Tata Harrier is placed at the 7th position and it again falls short of the Mahindra XUV500’s volumes. While the bottom 2 positions are taken up by the Tata Safari and Nissan Terrano at staggering negative figures of 88% and 96% respectively, the Renault Captur at the 11th position has recorded the highest YoY growth on the list at 76%.
It is to be noted that only 2 out of 13 products on this list; the Mahindra Scorpio and Renault Captur have recorded positive YoY figures.
As compared to last month, the premium SUV segment has improved, as well as moved from a cumulative YoY growth of -19% to -9% in November 2019. On top of that, 3 out of 7 cars in this segment have recorded a positive YoY figure.
On top of the list is the Toyota Fortuner which degrew -28% YoY in November 2019. The Ford Endeavour at the 2nd position grew an impressive 67% in the same time period. The highest growth is recorded by the Volkswagen Tiguan after selling 176 units in November 2019 growing 83%. The Mahindra Alturas G4 takes the last spot with just 35 unit sales in its kitty.
