Rajiv Bajaj reverts to Chetak design criticism by Tata design head Pratap Bose.
Bajaj Auto revived the Chetak brand name on 16th October with their first electric scooter. The new Bajaj Chetak has got a retro design language with modern elements. However, Tata Motors design head Pratap Bose criticised the styling of the new Chetak.
Bose tweeted “Very Vespa” and “Bajaj Auto has missed opportunity to do something more unique, Wonder what Piaggio Group will have to say about this”. He tweeted this with a sad smiley face criticising the design of the new Chetak.
Now recently at a press conference, Rajiv Bajaj reverted to his comments on the design. He said “I don’t know who he is. I mean I know he is the design head at Tata Motors but I don’t know where he’s coming from on this. Bose can make a statement on the design of the product alone and not on the quality because he hasn’t seen it or the price, which he does not know about. Even I don’t know about it.”
Rajiv Bajaj added “Tata does not have faith in its own design and they need to relate it as Land Rover’s poor cousin to sell its products”.
Mr. Bajaj has also said that Bose should know that he is talking to the World’s Favourite Indian that sells its 40 percent of the production across the world. He says without understanding the big picture, if somebody comments that they have lost the opportunity then good luck to Tata Motors if Bose is the representative of the talent they have over there.
