Skoda has unveiled the fourth generation Octavia that gets a new design and is loaded with tech.
After so many speculations, rumours and recent images leak, Skoda has finally pulled the wraps off the new generation Octavia. The fourth generation Skoda Octavia comes with a new design direction and new tech with a wide range of powertrain options.
The Octavia is the highest selling car in the Czech carmaker’s stable across the world. The 2020 Skoda Octavia comes with a dramatic styling makeover which looks mature. The front profile gets a huge signature butterfly grille, single piece headlights and a sleek bumper.
The side profile might remind you of the Superb as the shoulder line looks similar. The multi-spoke alloys add to the drama. The rear profile gets wrap around tail lamps unlike the outgoing version that had square setup. The new Skoda lettering on the boot replaces the logo.
The interior looks fresh and has no resemblance to the outgoing Octavia. The cabin has become more luxurious than the sporty looking one on the outgoing model. The dashboard gets a layered design integrating a huge 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The 2-spoke steering wheel looks inspired from the pre-facelift Mercedes S-Class.
The new Octavia also gets the updated version of the all-digital virtual cockpit. It displays multiple car related info along with full screen maps just like Audi cars. It comes with wireless charging, e-SIM connected tech, 3-zone climate control, USB-C connections, predictive cruise control, predictive pedestrian and cyclist protection, etc.
Based on Volkswagen’s new MQB platform, the new Octavia gets bigger dimensions and is even more spacious on the inside. The new Octavia is 19 mm longer and 15 mm wider than the outgoing version. The boot space is bigger too having 600-litre of capacity.
Skoda will be offering a range of new engines for the international market including petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains. India is expected to get the new gen Octavia later in 2020 with petrol-only options initially.
