Jeep to introduce 7-seat Compass in 2021, meanwhile focusing on updated variant for 2020.

Jeep Compass Off-Road Capabilities
The 7-seat version was first scheduled to launch in 2020

The Jeep Compass is quite a popular premium SUV in the Indian market. It churned out decent numbers in the domestic market initially but of late with the competitively priced compact SUVs in the market, the sales have started declining. However, the American carmaker has some plans for the Compass in the near future.

Jeep was about to introduce the 7-seater version of the Compass in 2020 but the launch has been pushed to 2021. Codenamed Low-D, the 7-seat version will be the range topping Compass in its lineup competing with Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace, Skoda Kodiaq, Honda CR-V, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Toyota Fortuner.

Currently, the carmaker is focusing on the heavily updated version of the Compass that will be launched in 2020. It will get significant styling changes thanks to major sheet metal tweaks. The 2020 Compass will have a redesigned cabin as well having a longer list of features.

Jeep will be introducing BS6 versions of the 2.0-litre diesel and 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine on the Compass soon. They will also add more diesel-automatic versions in the lineup. The Jeep Low-D 7-seater version is expected to be based on the updated Compass.

The Jeep Compass 7-seater version is expected to be priced around Rs. 27 lakhs. This variant won’t compromise on the off-road ability of the regular Compass.
