Hyundai is gearing up to launch a new variant of the Grand i10 NIOS with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
Hyundai launched the Grand i10 NIOS in India few weeks back and the hatchback has been getting a very good response from buyers. Currently, it is available with either a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine which is BS6 compliant or a 1.2-litre U2 CRDI engine. Both the engines are available with either an MT or an AMT.
The Korean automaker unveiled the i10 N Line in Frankfurt few days back and it is a sportier variant of the i10. It has now been learnt that Hyundai is going to launch a sporty version of the NIOS in India too, in early 2020. The performance oriented version of the NIOS will come with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
The engine is the same GDI unit which also powers the Hyundai Venue. The 3-cylinder engine will be offered in a slightly lower state of tune though, with power output expected to be in the whereabouts of 100 HP. However, the Grand i10 NIOS won’t get the Venue’s 7-speed DCT, instead it will come with a 5-speed MT only.
Apart from the engine, the new variant of the hatchback will likely come with enhanced exteriors and interiors. The cabin could get a full-black layout but otherwise it is expected to remain unchanged. The new variant might come with new alloy wheels too.
