Maruti Suzuki XL6 is available in a single BS6-compliant petrol engine.
Maruti Suzuki’s new premium MPV, the XL6 has been launched in India at Rs. 9,79,689/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Ertiga-based MPV features a 6-seat configuration with 2 captain seats and a single BS6-compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. The powertrain is offered with both manual and automatic transmission options. The Maruti XL6 will be sold via the brand’s premium Nexa chain of dealerships.
Largely based on the Ertiga, the new Maruti XL6 is offered in 2 variants- Zeta and Alpha. The new MPV gets a restyled face with a large yet sleek grille and some chrome detailing. It also gets new LED headlamps, black body claddings, faux skid-plates, blacked-out 15-inch alloy wheels and roof rails for an SUV-inspired look. The XL6 is offered in 6 colour options – Nexa Blue, Brave Khaki, Auburn Red, Magma Grey, Premium Silver and Arctic White.
The cabin follows an all-black theme instead of beige that is seen in the Ertiga. The Maruti XL6 gets the carmaker’s new SmartPlay Studio infotainment unit, boasting a 7.0-inch touchscreen display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Other equipment on offer includes automatic climate control, cruise control, rear AC vents, automatic headlamps and wipers, LED DRLs and keyless entry with push-button start/stop.
Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a speed warning system and seat-belt reminders for the driver and co-driver are offered as standard.
The Maruti XL6 is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, previously seen on the Ciaz and the Ertiga. It gets Maruti’s SHVS mild-hybrid technology which claims to improve fuel efficiency. The powertrain belts out 105 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. It comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The claimed mileage is 19.01 km/l for the former and 17.99 km/l for the latter.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 rivals MPVs like the Mahindra Marazzo and the Honda BR-V along with SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, the Nissan Kicks and the Renault Duster.
