The 2020 Hyundai Creta is expected to hit Indian roads early next year.
Hyundai had introduced the second-generation ix25 SUV, known as the Creta in India, at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show. It is expected to be launched in India and other international markets in the first half of 2020.
The 2020 Hyundai Creta is 4300 mm long, 1790 mm wide and 1622 mm tall. While the SUV is shorter in height by 8 mm (without roof rails), it is 30 mm longer and 10 mm wider than the current model. Though these dimensions are for the China-bound version, expect the Indian model to be similar and offer more ground clearance.
The 2020 Hyundai Creta will get a split-headlamp setup with slim LED lamps positioned above the main headlamps. The SUV will get a new cascading grille, similar to what is seen on the Venue and the Palisade sold abroad. The tail-lights get a split setup too and a strip of LED lights run the width of the car. Separate units for brake and turn indicators are placed below.
New entrants like the Kia Seltos and the MG Hector in the segment might impel the 2020 Hyundai Creta to have a more premium interior. As far as we know, a vertically positioned touchscreen system is part of the ix25 package. It is possible that the same layout is offered in the India-spec variant as well. The car will be offered in two seating configurations, a 5-seater first and a 7-seater later.
The 2020 Hyundai Creta will be available with 3 engine options- a 1.5-litre petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol. The new 1.5-litre diesel engine will replace the current 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre diesel engines. The 1.5-litre petrol produces 115 PS and 144 Nm while the turbocharged unit belts out 140 PS and 242 Nm of torque. The diesel powertrain is good for 115 PS of power and a peak torque of 250 Nm. The upcoming Creta is likely to be offered in 4 gearbox options – a 6-speed manual, a CVT, a 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed torque convertor. All engines will be BS6 compliant.
In terms of features, expect the new model to feature all the features of the Seltos and more. The 2020 Hyundai Creta will compete against the Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Nissan Kicks and the upcoming Volkswagen T-Cross.
