Suzuki has launched the V-Strom 250 for the Japanese market.
Suzuki has launched the 2020 Suzuki V-Strom 250 in Japan and if you are drooling over the possibility of its launch in India, then you better knock your thoughts off for now. The upgrades for this baby adventure tourer are limited to cosmetics as performance figures remain untouched.
The 2 variants of the 2020 Suzuki V-Strom 250 include a standard model without ABS that’ll cost Rs. 3,82,000/- (JPY 5,70,240) and an ABS variant that’ll cost Rs. 4,04,000/- (JPY 6,02,640). The sticker price of the currently available 2019 Japanese models is the same.
Cosmetic changes include a new dual shade – Pearl Nebula Black and High Tech Silver Metallic, but the catch here is that only the ABS variant will be available in the new shade. Red coloured V-Strom badging on the beak and red coloured strips are included. The fuel tank and rims get a fair share of stickers and the chrome headlight rim is hard to ignore as well.
The older shade Diamond Red Metallic has been called off but the shades of Pearl Nebular Black and Solid Dazzling Cool Yellow will be back on the grid. Few other changes include a chopped off heat shield for the exhaust and comparatively smaller knuckle guards. The non-ABS variant will go on sale from 23rd August 2019 and the ABS variant will be available from 26th August 2019.
The quarter-litre tourer will have the same 248cc twin-cylinder engine, similar to the recently launched Suzuki Gixxer 250R. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed unit helping the motor churn out 24 PS of power and 22 Nm of torque. The weight difference between both the models is just about a kilogram where the ABS unit is on a higher scale. The 2020 Suzuki V-Strom 250 claims a mileage of 32 km/l.
The 2020 Suzuki V-Strom 250 gets regular telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Munching miles won’t be a problem for the 2020 Suzuki V-Strom 250 with its 17-litre fuel tank. Will the bike make its way to India anytime soon? Maybe, but with different specifications – a single-cylinder BS6 engine, smaller fuel tank and mandatory ABS.
