Royal Enfield is working on an even more affordable motorcycle.
At present, Royal Enfield sales isn’t at its peak. When we talk about numbers, the entire automotive industry is on a roller coaster ride with unstable sales. Royal Enfield has experienced a hard hit this time. Reports say that Eicher Motors have experienced a decline of more than 21 percent in their net profit.
Amidst all this catastrophe, Royal Enfield is still on track and is prepping up for the BS6 wave with the deadline being 1st April 2020. With that being said, Royal Enfield is also working on a new variant, a motorcycle that will probably be the most affordable Royal Enfield for the foreseeable future.
The upcoming Royal Enfield motorcycle is likely to stay within the 350cc segment as that’s what has been the face for the company. The on-going 350cc models include the Classic 350 and the Bullet. The upcoming model is likely to be based on one of these platforms.
Cosmetic upgrades are likely to happen and the new model can probably consist of redundant chrome elements, a few tweaks will be made to the majorly visible parts like the fuel tank, the fenders, etc. Furthermore, new bright and flashy paint scheme like the sibling Thunderbird X can be anticipated on the upcoming model.
The performance figures will remain untouched and not to forget the new Royal Enfield bike will be their most affordable. Affordability of any motorcycle brings a few concerns. One of them is the quality and other is keeping up with the current iteration. To keep the supposedly 350cc model under budget, it might come standard with spoke wheels, tube tyres, disc brakes on either end with single-channel ABS. Electric start stays standard and the kick start is likely to be present to keep the Royal Enfield essence intact.
The Bullet sits as the most affordable Royal Enfield right now wearing a price tag of Rs. 1.21 lakh (ex-showroom) but that’s without the electric start. For the Bullet ES, one will have to spend Rs. 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom). So the price tag for the new Royal Enfield motorcycle should be around the rupees one lakh bracket with all the bells and whistles. This maybe a seemingly strong push to Royal Enfield sales and also let’s the brand enter the price bracket that’s being dominated by 200cc motorcycles.
