The new Triumph Rocket 3 boasts of the world’s largest production motorcycle engine.
Triumph has revealed 2 new models for next year, the roadster Rocket 3 R and the cruiser/tourer GT, the Rocket 3 GT on its international website.
The Rocket 3 R and the GT don’t bear a lot of cosmetic differences. While the 3 R gets a sportier handlebar, the GT gets an inch lower seat, a backrest for the passenger and heated grips. Phantom Black body colour is available on both versions but the Rocket 3 R gets an additional red paint and the 3 GT gets a two-tone silver-grey option with a red pinstripe decal.
With a 2458cc powertrain, the new Triumph Rocket 3 boasts of the world’s largest production motorcycle engine. The bike cranks up 167 PS at 6000 RPM while it redlines at 7000 RPM. The company claims that the new engine produces 11% more power than the previous generation and delivers the highest torque of 221 NM at 4000 RPM when compared to any other production motorcycle in its segment. Weighing 40 kgs less than its predecessor, the new Rocket claims a slingshot run of 0-100 km/hr in just 2.79 seconds.
New electronic gizmos include a 5-axis Continental IMU enable cornering ABS and cornering traction control, 4 riding modes (Rain, Rode, Sport and Rider) including one programmable one that modifies throttle response and traction control. The motorcycle uses adjustable Showa forks at both ends while braking power is supplied by Brembo’s Stylema monobloc callipers. The ignition is keyless while cruise control and a hill-hold function are standard.
While the website gives 19th November 2019 as the day when prices will be revealed, it is uncertain, when and for how much will these bikes be available in India but it’s likely early next year.
