Suzuki Gixxer MotoGP edition is inspired by Suzuki’s MotoGP machine, the GSX-RR.
Suzuki has introduced a special MotoGP edition of its recently launched 2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF motorcycle at a price of Rs. 1.1 lakhs (ex-showroom). The MotoGP edition costs around Rs. 1500/- more than the standard bike which was launched at a price of Rs. 1.09 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Suzuki Gixxer MotoGP edition bears not many alterations, except a few cosmetic changes here and there. The motorcycle gets a Racing Blue body colour and new graphics, picking cues from the Suzuki Ecstar MotoGP team and the GSX-R series. ‘Suzuki Ecstar’ is printed in a contrast white and black paint scheme on the bike. It features pinstripe alloy wheels with an aim to make the motorcycle look sporty.
There is no change to the powertrain and the Gixxer SF MotoGP edition is propelled by the same 155cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled SOHC engine that moves the standard model. The powertrain belts out 14.1 PS of power and a peak torque of 14 Nm. Suspension and brakes are the same and it gets a single-channel ABS unit as a standard fitment.
The Suzuki Gixxer rivals the Yamaha FZ V3 (Rs. 95,680/-), TVS Apache RTR 160 4V FI ABS (Rs. 99,101/-) and the Honda CB Hornet 160R (starting at Rs. 92,108/-) in the Indian market. With an updated Gixxer in the bag and a MotoGP edition following suit, Suzuki is visibly making an effort to regain its lost sales figures.
