The Maruti Vitara AWD has been spied undergoing testing in India, it might get launched to rival the Creta.
When Maruti launched the Grand Vitara in India many years back, the SUV wasn’t an out and out success but what it did was carve out a niche market for itself and made a lot of fans in the process. The Grand Vitara was known for its off-road abilities and fun to drive nature. Suzuki has been selling the new Vitara in overseas markets and now the vehicle has been spotted on test in India.
The Suzuki Vitara is bigger than the Maruti Vitara Brezza and is a 5-seater SUV while it also gets an ALLGRIP 4×4 system. The exterior styling is boxy while the interior also features a driver-friendly layout while some parts do look similar to the ones from other Maruti cars.
In global markets, the Vitara is offered with a variety of engines like a 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol, 1.4-litre BoosterJet petrol, 1.6-litre NA petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel. We’re expecting Maruti to showcase the Vitara at the 2020 Auto Expo, and if the vehicle is launched here, you can expect it to get the 1.4-litre BoosterJet or 1.5-litre petrol engine that gets SHVS.
In terms of pricing, well the Vitara will be slotted above the Vitara Brezza and it will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Renault Captur so the prices are likely to be in the whereabouts of other SUVs in the segment. We cannot say right now whether this car will be sold through Nexa or Arena but there’s a higher possibility of the former.
