The new 2.0-litre petrol engine is likely to produce 185 BHP, will focus on better endurance, better refinement and improved performance.
Mahindra has been working on the future line up of its BS6 compliant petrol engines and announced that they will be ready to launch the updated engines by September 2019. Along with the new 2.0-litre petrol engine, it will also include an updated 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit giving out 108 BHP and 190 Nm of torque and an updated 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
The new 2.0-litre petrol engine is estimated to produce 185 BHP, will be an all-aluminium unit. Just like the updated 1.2-litre engine and 1.5-litre TGDI engine, the new 2.0-litre unit will be turbocharged.
Mahindra also revealed the update in their TGDI systems from 250bar fuel injection rail to high pressure 350bar fuel injection systems, which will go into production next year. While it isn’t confirmed, Mahindra could use the high pressure 350bar fuel injection port in the new 2.0-litre engine.
The company is known for its diesel heavy portfolio and having a competent petrol line-up is important for Mahindra to grow their partnership with Ford and SsangYong.
