Hyundai has started testing the next generation i20 on Indian roads.
The Hyundai Elite i20 is quite a popular premium hatchback in the Indian market. The i20 manages to be in the top 10 selling cars list every month. Not only this, it sometimes outsells its more affordable sibling, the Grand i10. The Korean carmaker has started testing the next gen i20 now, which has been spotted in India.
The Hyundai i20 spied here on test is the third generation model for the Indian car market. The road testing of the hatchback has just begun. We expect Hyundai to launch the new i20 after one year from now. Testing is in its initial stage and we expect substantial changes over the current model.
The third generation i20 is expected to be wider in size as you can notice in the spy shots. This will help the carmaker offer better space inside. The exterior will see drastic changes featuring new design language with mature styling. The interior will get revamped to offer better features and practicality.
We can expect Hyundai to offer the BlueLink connectivity that is seen on the Venue. There will be a ton of new features with a couple of segment firsts. The new i20 will comply with the BS6 emission and new safety norms. It is likely to get new engine options borrowed from the new Hyundai Venue.
The 2020 Hyundai i20 will compete in the premium hatchback segment with the likes of Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz, Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza, etc.
