Maruti Ignis Scores 3-Stars In Global NCAP Tests [Video]

The India made Suzuki Ignis crash test results in 3-star rating for adult and 1-star for child occupant protection.

Global NCAP has just tested the India-made Suzuki Ignis for the African market. The hatchback offers the same safety features as the Maruti Ignis. The car gets dual front airbags, ABS and ISOFIX anchorages. The Ignis has scored 3-star rating for adult occupant protection and 1-star for child occupant protection.

The Japanese hatchback has scored 9.99 points out of 17 points for adult protection. Child protection results get 8 points out of a total of 49 points. The crash test was done at a speed of 64 km/hr. The Global NCAP has declared the bodyshell of the Ignis as unstable.

The protection offered to driver and passenger’s head and neck came out good. Driver’s chest protection showed was
weak while passenger’s chest showed adequate protection. Driver’s knees protection was marginal and passenger’s knees showed adequate protection.

The bodyshell rated as unstable, was not capable of withstanding further loadings. The footwell area is considered to be stable. The Suzuki Ignis offers standard SBR for driver but it does not meet Global NCAP requirements. Last year, the Maruti Swift scored 2-stars while the Vitara Brezza scored 4-stars.
