A mixed response from the buyers towards the 150cc motorcycle segment shows mediocre sales figures.
The top-selling 150cc bikes list in April is lead by the Bajaj Pulsar 150, with the company recording 57,055 sales. However, this figure is less than what Bajaj had achieved in March when it sold 83,228 units of the bike. TVS Motor Company shows a combined sales of the Apache series and has recorded 43,499 units with a 1 percent increase in MoM growth.
Yamaha takes the 4th and the 5th positions with the FZ and R15 respectively. The Japanese motorcycle maker sold 19,709 units of the FZ in April and R15 does not even come close to it despite having a greater following. Yamaha’s new boy, the MT-15 sees only 3823 units exiting the showrooms and some say that the bike has failed to live up to the hype. SZ from Yamaha does not make it on this month’s list as the company managed to sell only 280 units.
Honda CB Hornet 160R sees a 75 percent increase in MoM sales with 4292 units sold in April. Suzuki has witnessed a massive 603 percent MoM growth with the Intruder but manages to take the second last spot in the list. The last spot is taken by the Suzuki Gixxer of which only 410 units were sold this month, but Suzuki will keep up their hopes as they have launched a new version of the Gixxer.
