The 249cc SOHC engine will come with a different tuning for the Intruder

Suzuki is set to launch a new higher capacity Intruder 250 in India apart from the Gixxer 250. The quarter-litre engine will be used on multiple bikes and might come in different tuning states. The Gixxer 250 will be launched in India before the arrival of the Intruder 250.

The quarter-litre Intruder is expected to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and we assume that it will be priced around the Rs. 1.80 lakhs. The cruiser motorcycle will be based on a different chassis than the recently launched Gixxer SF 250. Longer swingarm, laid-back riding posture, low seat height, easy to reach handlebars and front-set footpegs will complete the cruiser feel.

The bigger capacity Suzuki Intruder might also get new features to differentiate with its 150cc sibling. The new features expected to be introduced on the Intruder 250 include an LED headlamp, LED tail light and a revised LCD instrument cluster.

The Intruder will be powered by the 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, SOHC engine which produces 26.5 PS and 22.6 Nm of torque. However, the engine might come in a different state of tune to match the cruiser character. The gearbox will be the same 6-speed unit, but it will have long gearing-ratios. We expect a dual-channel ABS system to be standard on the bike.

Currently, Suzuki offers the Intruder 150 with a 155cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 14.8 PS at 8000 RPM and 14 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. This engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The Suzuki Intruder 150 is available in both carburettor and fuel injected variants.
