Royal Enfield is now working on the new generation of its popular motorcycles and giving it some much-needed updates. The 2020 RE Classic was spied testing on the roads suggesting that the upcoming generation of the Classic is going to be more touring friendly.

The first thing which can be noticed about the upcoming motorcycle is the tall windscreen. The windscreen is also available as an accessory for the current-generation of the Classic. The seats have a split set up, however, they look more padded, while the springs from under the rider’s seat are now missing. The pillion seat is also higher than the current generation classic. The seating will also allow proper weight distribution as it is a case with the Classics to have a lighter front-end with a saggy rear. There is a backrest for the pillion rider too and the saddlebags seen in the image could be offered as an accessory.

The footrests on the RE Classic seem to be flatter and have a lot of surface area to place the foot. While there are changes to the chassis and the swingarm, the engine block design is also different in the 2020 Royal Enfield Classic. The front brake disc has been moved from the left-hand side to the right-hand side while the mirror stems look new. The tail light and the indicators also get a new design. The motorcycle is wearing similar size tyres like on the current generation Classic. Other changes could include a fuel-gauge and an improvement in the overall build quality. Royal Enfield is busy upgrading and testing the next generation motorcycles as we have seen the next-gen Thunderbird being tested too.
