The updated Honda Africa Twin has been launched in India, available across all Honda Wing World dealers.
Honda has started to take bookings for the Africa Twin and will only accept bookings for the first 50 customers. Only 50 units will be brought to India in the first lot and deliveries are expected to start in the next month. The latest offering from Honda is offered in Glint Wave Blue Metallic colour scheme, with gold accents on the handlebar and spoked wheels.
The Africa Twin features a throttle-by-wire system and a seven-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) system, which is Honda’s traction control. It also gets three levels of power and engine braking, and four riding modes like Urban, Touring, Gravel and User, each of which can be programmed individually. The bike also gets dual-clutch gearbox with a ‘G switch’ which is useful for half-clutch operation.
The adventure tourer is powered by a 998cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine making 87.7 HP at 7500 RPM and 93.1 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. It comes with a 6-speed DCT gearbox in India that features incline detection technology that helps detect whether the motorcycle is going up or down on a slope and then selects the suitable gear for the situation. At the front, the braking power is provided by a 310 mm twin floating discs with Nissin 4-pot radial callipers and at the rear, a 256 mm wave-style disc with a 1-pot calliper handles the braking. ABS for the rear wheel can be turned off completely.
The bike competes with the Triumph Tiger 800, Ducati Multistrada 950 and the BMW F 850 GS in the Indian market. And is priced at Rs. 13.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, India).
