In a crash test conducted by the Euro NCAP, the new Honda CR-V scored 5 stars.

The new CR-V joins the Jazz, HR-V and Civic in Honda’s range of cars that got a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. The SUV achieved 93% in adult occupant safety and 83% in child occupant safety. While the safety assist score stands at 76%, the vulnerable road users rating is 70%.

Honda’s next-generation ACE (Advanced Compatibility Engineering) body structure has been incorporated into the car. This employs a network of connected structural elements to distribute collision energy more evenly, which in turn helps reduce the forces transferred to the passengers when an impact occurs, providing superior front, side and rear crash-worthiness.

The tested model was packed with a range of standard safety features including front driver and passenger airbags, side airbags, load limiter, ISOFIX child rear seat, AEB (auto emergency braking) technologies, speed assist, and lane assist system, seatbelt reminder and passenger airbag cut-off switch.

The 2019 Honda CR-V was simulated in multiple crash test scenarios including front full-width rigid barrier test at 50 km/hr, front offset deformable barrier test at 64 km/hr, side pole test at 32 km/hr, side mobile barrier test at 50 km/hr, pedestrian upper leg impact tests at 40 km/hr, whiplash low speed sled tests at 16 km/hr and 24 km/hr, pedestrian head impact, pedestrian lower leg impact, and lane support system.

After the test, the reports stated that the passenger compartment of the CR-V remained stable in the frontal offset test. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. Also, the protection of the passenger dummy was good for all critical body areas. The standard-fit autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system also performed well in tests at the low speeds.

The 2019 Honda CR-V scored the maximum possible points in the side barrier test, in which all critical body areas were well-protected. During a rear-end collision, the front seats and head restraints indicated that they provided good protection against whiplash injury. During the more severe side pole impact test, it was noted that the car provided marginal protection of the chest.
