The Tata Harrier will get a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox, launch expected in mid-2019.
Tata Motors recently launched the Harrier which is priced between Rs. 12.69-16.25 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and this is the first Tata model based on the Impact Design 2.0 philosophy. The monocoque SUV is also the first to be based on the OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) architecture that is derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform. The 7-seater version of the Harrier has already been confirmed by the company officials and is expected to be launch within 2019.
Tata will introduce the automatic version of the 5-seater Harrier by the mid of this year. The vehicle is undergoing testing and it gets the same 6-speed AT that is also available on the Hyundai Tucson. The Harrier gets a 2.0-litre diesel engine sourced from Fiat. The Kryotec diesel engine produces 140 BHP and 350 Nm of peak torque.
The Tata Harrier automatic will come with Eco, City and Sport drive modes combined to the terrain response modes such as Normal, Wet and Rough but it will be devoid of a four-wheel-drive configuration. XMA, XTA, XZA and XZA Plus variants could feature the 6-speed torque converter gearbox to help buyers choose from a wide range of options and its starting price is expected to be around Rs. 14 lakhs (ex-showroom, India).
