The MG Hector petrol will feature an in-house developed 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The MG Hector is going to be launched in India by June 2019. This is MG’s first vehicle to be launched in our market and this SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier when launched. The MG Hector will be produced in the manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat.

The MG Hector will be paired to the same 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine from Fiat that also powers the Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. It will also get a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. A 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that is developed in-house by MG-SAIC will be paired to the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. The vehicle will also be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Currently, the Compass is the only vehicle in the segment to offer a 7-speed DCT gearbox mated to the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

The dual-clutch automatic gearbox fitted on the MG Hector will come with a sports mode, with the likelihood of paddle-shifters to be on offer. The gearbox has been tested for over 26 lakh kms globally. Apart from this, the MG Hector will be loaded with a panoramic sunroof for the top-spec model and a single sunroof for the lower variants.

A 10.4-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system will be on the cards, with a 360-degree parking camera, along with a Harman0sourced audio system that will comprise of four speakers, four tweeters and a subwoofer. Also, a 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, push-button start, keyless entry, cruise control and a tyre pressure monitoring system may also be included in the car.
