The KTM Duke 790 was spotted at a dealership before its launch in the coming month.
With the start of unofficial bookings for the KTM Duke 790, it was the first time the bike was spotted in a dealership. With the launch in March 2019, this spotting gave us an exact idea of what we were expecting from the bike. The bike will arrive in India as a completely-knocked-down (CKD) unit and will be assembled at Bajaj’s Chakan Plant.
The KTM Duke 790, owing to its CKD operation, is expected to be priced around Rs. 8.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and aims to undercut its rivals by almost Rs. 2 lakhs. The bike has the heart of a newly-developed LC8 799cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine, which churns out 105 BHP and 86 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch, along with an LCD instrument cluster, bi-directional quick-shifter, lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, launch and wheelie control and different riding modes which also includes ‘supermoto’ mode which is also on offer on the Duke 390.
In the images, the bike is seen with a raised exhaust and a huge ground-clearance with the bike not featuring underbelly protection for the mechanical parts. With a sharply molded tank and sleek all-LED headlamps, the bike is set to turn heads. The bike also features a curved radiator which ensures better colling for the engine as compared to standard box radiators. Moving down the bike, the seats look comfortable, along with the pillion seat being broad enough for the pillion to be seated comfortably.
