The 2019 Yamaha FZ-S gets some sporty visual enhancements and LED headlamp.
The 2019 Yamaha FZ-S is slated for a launch on the 21st of January. However, before hitting the showrooms officially, the motorcycle has been spotted sans camouflage and the images have been doing rounds on the internet. This specific model is in its production-ready form and is awaiting its launch.
The upcoming Yamaha FZ-S has taken quite a bit of design cues from the bigger sibling, the FZ25. The headlamp is now an LED unit (similar to the FZ25) with DRLs added to it. The tank extension cowl has been redesigned and is integrated with air intakes. However, the turn signal indicators are conventional units and LEDs are not offered yet.
Lower down, the 2019 FZ-S has an engine cowl added to entice the visual appeal. The seat is now a single piece unit with a new grab rail.
The biggest change in the new model is the addition of ABS. However, unlike the recently updated R15 V3 (which gets dual-channel ABS), the FZ is likely to get a single-channel unit, since it ranks in the lower price range.
The 2019 Yamaha FZ-S is expected to be powered by the same engine as the outgoing model. Hence, it is most likely to be powered by the same 149cc, fuel-injected engine that makes 13.2 PS of power and 12.8 Nm of torque. The power is transferred to the wheel via a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The new FZ-S is likely to get a price hike of around Rs. 10,000/- due to the addition of ABS. The present model goes for around Rs. 84,000/- (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
