2019 Maruti Wagon R has been revealed completely at a dealership and will come with more equipment and a bigger 1.2-litre engine.
The 2019 Maruti Wagon R has reached dealerships ahead of the car’s launch on the 23rd of January. The spy-shot which was making the rounds on WhatsApp groups this morning reveals the signature ‘tall-boy’ styling and some new changes to the exterior and the interior. The car does not appear to be in a very good condition and is probably reserved for sales or service staff training.
The exterior carries distinct Wagon R design elements with larger headlights, new grille, changes to the bumper design and tweaked fog lamp housing. From the rear, the Wagon R will feature vertically oriented tail-lights. A new hub-cap design and alloy wheels are expected as well.
The interior images of the new generation Wagon R have surfaced for the first time and the layout does not look too different from the current car. The new additions include a touch-screen infotainment system placed on the accentuated upper portion of the dashboard. The design of the central AC vents is new. However, the AC vents on the extreme side retain the similar circular design and the colour theme on the inside seems similar as well. The dashboard gets a floating design with integrated gear stick to free up more space on the floor.
The instrument cluster is new but this time around the tachometer seems to be missing. The speedometer dials are bigger for easy readability on the move. The steering wheel is picked from the Ignis and houses audio controls.
The Wagon R will be sold through Maruti’s Arena sales channel with four engine options – 1.0-litre petrol, 1.0-litre petrol-LPG, 1.0-litre petrol-CNG and a 1.2-litre petrol for the first time. Transmission duties will be carried by 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. Maruti will be launching the car on the 23rd of this month with prices expected to be in the range of Rs. 4-6 lakhs. The Maruti Wagon R competes with the likes of the Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago.
