Benelli will be launching the TRK 502 and 502X In India on 18th February 2019.
Benelli tried its luck in the Indian market with their motorcycles but failed as the their Indian partner DSK ran into financial trouble. The brand is making a comeback with a new partnering organisation, the Mahavir Group. To restart their venture into this market, Benelli will be launching the TRK 502 and the 502X.
The TRK 502 is an adventure tourer that is more biased towards street-riding with alloy wheels while the 502X is the off-road version with wire-spoke wheels and other off-road specs. Both the 502s will share the same frame and the same engine. The powertrain is a 499cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin unit that is good for 47 BHP of power at 8500 RPM and 45 Nm of torque at 5000 RPM. This motorcycle will also offer a 6-speed gearbox and beefy 50 mm USD forks. The rear suspension is a monoshock unit. The Benelli TRK 502 employs a 260 mm rear disc while twin 320 mm discs are used at the front.
The Benelli TRK 502 gets 17-inch alloys on both sides while the 502X gets a 19-inch wheel up front and a 17-inch wheel at the rear. The unladen weight of the TRK 502 is 213 kgs. This means that this motorcycle does not lie in the light-weight category. We believe that the TRK 502 and the TRK 502X will not compete with other bikes in the traditional sense. Although, it is expected to be launched with a price tag of Rs. 5-6 lakh (ex-showroom). Competitive pricing will make this Italian-Chinese motorcycle more affordable compared to other adventure bikes like the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the SWM SuperDual T.
