All-new KTM 390 Adventure spotted testing in complete camouflage, indicating a launch by the second half of 2019.
It is not very long since we had the baby Duke 125 launched here in India and now another model is expected to join the lineup soon. The new 390 Adventure has been spotted on test on the roads of Chakan, Pune (Bajaj Auto has a plant here) albeit in camouflage, and the spy shots have been circulating on WhatsApp.
The testing of the KTM 390 Adventure seems to be very much inline with the announcement earlier about the introduction of the motorcycle in India. Since the testing is already on, the production phase is expected to start soon.
The spotted KTM 390 Adventure has a similar setup that we are accustomed to seeing on KTM motorcycles, that is, a trellis frame with WP upside-down forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Being an adventure motorcycle at heart, it has the traditional larger front wheel.
We might also have the Adventure in two variants as this particular model has alloy wheels, which is a stark contrast to the previous prototype models that had spoke wheels. The tyres look to be very off-road friendly with good tread. It has dual-channel ABS, as a speed sensor can be spotted on the rear wheel.
The exhaust section of the spotted KTM 390 Adventure is bigger than the standard Duke and is likely to comply with the upcoming BS6 norms. Styling-wise, it appears to be similar to the bigger 790 Adventure, thanks to the short windscreen and the small tank cowls to assist better aerodynamics. The rear has a small LED tail light unit.
This new KTM 390 Adventure is expected to be powered by the same 373cc, liquid-cooled engine from the Duke and RC 390. And though the motor may churn out the same 43 BHP power and 37 Nm torque, the tuning might be more off-road friendly with different gear ratios for the 6-speed unit.
The company hasn’t spoken a word about a probable launch date or pricing, although we can expect it to be here by the second half of 2019. The pricing could be close Rs. 3 lakhs and it will be competing directly against the BMW G 310 GS.
