The Lambretta Electric launch will be accompanied with the iconic Super Lambretta at the auto show.
Lambretta is presently on a mission to grab a good piece of the thriving Indian two-wheeler market. Hence, in order to take the challenge head-on, the Italian 2-wheeler maker has announced the global launch of the Lambretta Electric at the 15th Auto Expo slated for 2020.
This soon-to-come Lambretta EV is presently under development, and the company has collaborated with the Bird Group of Delhi and Lohia Auto of Noida for the same purpose. However, the company hasn’t spoken a word about the technical specifications or the platform as of now and we might have to wait till the product makes the official debut.
Apart from just Lambretta Electric launch, the parent company, Innocenti, has announced another India-bound model, the Super Lambretta. This can give a big boost to the company’s presence in the Indian automobile circuit as the scooter segment has shown staggering growth in recent times. This increases the chances for the brand of getting a strong foothold in the country. It has also mentioned at it will be bigger and better than any of the Lambretta models that are presently available and would don the premium segment, coming up face-to-face competition with the Vespa.
Innocenti is even working on setting up a production facility here in India and is considering Mumbai to be a favourable location. This plant would serve as a production hub for the neighbouring countries as well, along with Africa. This decision is still in the final stage of discussion and we might have the verdict soon.
